La Parisienne is a lovely French Café located in New York’s Financial District. It was opened in December 2017 by a young French couple, Julie and Adrian. A blue store front with the French and the American Flags greets you outside when you arrive. The interior features a seating area with 6 small bistro tables and a bar with tools. The whole place is a beautiful and energizing play of blue, turquoise, white and gold. La Parisienne offers a vast choice for breakfast, including French viennoiseries, fresh fruit salads, and savory options as their salmon brioche or the ham and cheese croissant. Coffee is by Coperaco and you’ll find a large choice of espresso, macchiato, cappuccino… The tea selection is by Harney and Sons. The lunch menu features simple dishes as soups, salads, French “croque sandwiches” as Croque Monsieur or Madame, cheeses and charcuteries. It focuses on fresh and healthy ingredients, organic as much as possible. On the sweet side, you’ll find homemade treats as chocolate mousse and cookies, as well as pastries coming from French partners such as Ladurée baked goods. The bread comes from Pain d’Avignon.
For Whom Anyone who wants to grab something savory or sweet during the day or wants to enjoy a nice break in an inviting and casual atmosphere. Kids are more than welcome and La Parisienne also hosts birthday parties.
Story Julie and Adrian have both been passionate about the culinary world since they were young. They both worked for Alain Ducasse Group in France and Monaco before coming to New York where they’ve worked for French restaurants for many years (Benoit, Ladurée, Tartinery). Their dream was to open their own place to share their passion for food and hospitality. At La Parisienne, they want people to feel they are in a café in Paris. They want them to sit, enjoy the cozy atmosphere and the pleasure of simple dishes made with fresh ingredients.
My Experience I discovered La Parisienne one day when I had a meeting in the neighborhood and had little time to grab lunch. As soon as I opened the door, I was welcomed pleasantly by Julie. I ordered the Soup of the Day which was carrot, the La Parisienne salad, along with a tea and one Financier. My order arrived quickly. The carrot soup was excellent with notes of coconut milk, the salad was generous and tasted delicious and fresh. The financier was perfect with my tea. The person at the next table had ordered the organic Quinoa Bowl and it looked spectacular! I enjoyed the friendly and cozy atmosphere as well as the charming decor of this cute French café.
