On May 6, 2021, in the particular context of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Michelin Guide unveiled its 2021 star rating for New York City and Westchester County.
In total 68 restaurants were awarded stars.
Given the difficult circumstances, no restaurant was dropped or downgraded in 2021, among those which remained opened or still temporarily closed.
7 newcomers made it to the Michelin-1-star list: Don Angie, Francie, Jua, Kochi, Rezdôra, Tsukimi, Vestry.
The Michelin-2-star and Michelin-3-star categories remain the same.

Besides its 2 Stars, Blue Hill at Stone Barns was also awarded the new Michelin "Green Star", in recognition of its long time commitment to sustainability.

The first Michelin Guide was published in 1900 by Édouard and André Michelin to provide motorists with information about where they could have their car serviced or repaired as well as where to find a good place to dine. The star-rating system was first introduced in 1926 as a way to award outstanding restaurants for their excellence in cuisine and hospitality. The Michelin inspectors are anonymous, they pay their bill, and dine and drink as every other customer.
