For Whom Truffle lovers. The Truffle Lab is also a great space to celebrate an occasion like a birthday. You can either register to one of their classes or call them if you’re looking to organize a private event. The space is both very elegant and warm.
Their Story The Urbani family has been in the truffle business for generations. The company, which was founded in Italy in 1850 by Carlo Urbani, is still run by the Urbani family. The quality of its products won the group its reputation for excellence. Their truffles are served in some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world.
My Experience My love affair with Urbani Truffles began one cold Friday afternoon. I had planned to make truffle pasta for dinner and needed the right truffle. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was when I arrived there and found the door closed! I rang the bell in the hope that someone would answer! I was very relieved when somebody came and opened the door for me! I explained that I wanted one fresh black truffle and was invited to the fresh truffles storage room. The smell in that room was incredible! I was so excited to be able to choose my fresh truffle to go and Urbani showed me many truffles that I never knew existed! It’s truffle heaven! If you live in New York, don’t hesitate! Go to their flagship store during their office hours and ring the bell! They are always ready to help and you can ask anything about truffles. They really are the experts. The experience itself is really worth the trip! More recently, I was lucky enough to attend one of their events. It was a cooking class with guest chef, Andrea Belfiore. The guests were divided into two groups, one in charge of making a truffle risotto and one in charge of doing truffle carbonara spaghetti. It was such a fun experience! The two teams cooked separately under the supervision of Chef Andrea and the Truffle Lab Manager, Conny. After cooking, we all had dinner together in the open kitchen. There were around 15 people, including some couples, one little group celebrating a birthday and another celebrating an upcoming wedding. We didn’t know each other when we arrived, but the experience was so fun in such a relax atmosphere that we all happily chatted together during the class and the dinner. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!
